The Horsechick Lexicon

      • }|{ }:o ~:O @ %' >*< >) >-*-< -- ASCII symbols representing the animal/spirit totems of various Horsechicks, which bear practically no resemblance whatsoever to their Apocalyptic identities. And yet, somehow, they are really truly representative.

      • "And they're naked!" -- Used to indicate a flaming duh, or to add an additional selling point to something you are already sold on. Coined from a MediaWest art auction where the auctioneer was selling a Jim&Blair drawing with a highly-enthusiastic recital of its main selling point.

      • Apocalypse -- (1) Any gathering of three or more Horsechicks, at least one of whom does not reside in the city where the gathering is taking place. Refers to the potential for absolute devastation of said city as an unintended side effect of perfectly innocent Horsechickly activity. Really.

        • (2) Geographical region inhabited by one or more Horsechicks. This usage is always followed by a region-specific modifier, e.g. Apocalypse West, Apocalypse Midwest, Apocalypse Old West, Apocalypse-by-the-Bay.
        • (3) Horsechick or group of Horsechicks inhabiting (2).

      • "Bite me" -- Ring and pinky finger of dominant hand folded down and held by thumb, index and middle finger curved into hooks, first held up with palm facing person you are speaking to, and then sharply tilted down so that the index and middle fingers are pointing to the ground. Indicates, "Bite me," as used in common parlance. Coined at Disneyland, when two Horsechicks thought shouting "Bite me," repeatedly at each other in front of impressionable youths was a bit dicey.

      • Butterfly Warnings -- A film, book and television rating system that assesses how gory said film, book or television show is on the basis of how well the butterfly, who has low-gore tolerance, can stand it.

      • Dolphining (v.) - High-pitched squeaking made by Horsechicks in great distress, or when extremely excited, in order to signal to Horsechicks in other geographical regions that Something Important is happening (ex.: Angel has his shirt off, Methos is getting tortured, Wesley just got his heart broken again, Sale & Pelletier take the gold).

      • eBay Noise -- When your non-sexual partner friend gives you a backrub when you desperately need one and you don't even bother trying to hold in the sounds of obscene utter bliss. Coined from, "You know, I bet if we recorded that, you could make a fortune selling it on eBay."

      • Ferret on Speed -- A person, usually an actor at a convention, who has way more energy per square inch of his or her body than is legally necessary. Coined from the Gerthering, org. "Ferret on Double Espresso."

      • Horsechick (var. HorseChick) -- (1) One who identifies with various apocalyptic qualities and goals, such as the domination of the world, the seizing of hot cabana-boys, the consumption of much chocolate, and the wearing of really cool Xena-esque-RenFaire costumes. Is differentiated from the Horsemen of the Apocalypse by the fact that (a) the Horsechicks lived and the Horsemen died--- primarily because Horsechicks can look innocent and sexy/cute to stupid Scottish Immortals, and thus get away with their activities, and (b) we would never have tried to blackmail Methos. Tchah.

        • (2) A character and/or actress who defines some Apocalyptic quality (i.e. Aeryn/Claudia Black/Destruction, Sam/Amanda Tapping/Entropy, etc.) who is inducted in absentia into the Order of the Horsechicks of the Apocalypse, out of respect and a wish to pay homage to their ability to make men fear and want them at the same time.

      • Horsechick Quorum -- More than three Horsechicks in the same place/on the same phone line, usually used in conjunction with Tarot cards. Tends to result in either a) hitherto unforeseen heights of psychic ability, b) quotelisting, or c) both.

      • "No more tea for *you*!" -- Used towards anyone randomly exhibiting high levels of excitement, boisterous giggles, and/or over-caffinated silliness. From a suspected ad-lib in the recent musical stage version of "The Scarlet Pimpernel".

      • S'fun (var. S...fun) -- A delicate description of the activity in which a fan might daydream about participating in with her lust-object-of-choice. (c.f. "Damn, he's hot. I'd love to have s...fun with him!") From a strategic, mid-word, last-second change in choice of vocabulary.

      • .Sig Jihad -- When two or more Horsechicks compete in a "top *this*!" .sigging contest.

      • Spanish Princess Moment -- The moment on a very stressful day when there is absolutely nothing to do but collapse into a heap and cry very, very loudly until you feel better. Coined from Ever After, the Spanish Princess at her wedding.

      • Trill -- Two HorseChicks who share a brain, which leads them to either think exactly the same thing, or think totally opposite things on any given subject, and the two are not mutually exclusive. (ie: Dianne and Kiki do not agree on the hotness of Anthony Stewart Head, but do agree on the divinity of dark chocolate.) Coined from the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "The Gift," although the definition has undergone serious drift. (See also "trilling, to trill.")

      • TrillSlut -- Someone with the spontaneous ability to Trill with anyone in the room after a very short exposure to them, or under the influence of way too much caffeine/chocolate/sleeplessness. (Ex.: Lizbet.)

      • "Were you having that thought when I was having that thought?" -- When two or more Horsechicks have the same thought at the same moment. Coined from That Thing We Do Not Have, otherwise known as the Forever Knight blooper reel, where John Kapelos steps on Geraint Wyn Davies' line and Ger snarks at him.
